Murphy's Law counts double for Powerpoint presentations, it seems, and I've run into several fiendishly unpredictable modes of failure at talks over the years. I don't really want to get into specifics, but if you're doing a digital slideshow, always have a couple of backups on CD and USB drive. If possible, have a backup computer and projector as well.
